Bookkeeping
Bookkeeping is the record of what the business earned and what it spent. JBK Tax does that work for small businesses that also want their tax return prepared in the same place, in English or in Spanish.
On the phone, tell us about how many sales and bills you have in a typical month, whether you pay employees, and whether you already keep records somewhere. We will tell you what to send and set up the books around how your business actually runs.
Catching up is allowed. If last year is a folder of receipts, say that when you call. We would rather know before the appointment than discover it at the desk.
What helps us start
You do not need a perfect file. You need the raw material.
- Bank and card statements for the months you want recorded.
- Receipts for cash you spent, if the bank statement does not show them.
- Invoices you sent, or a list of who paid you.
- Last year’s tax return, if there is one.
- Payroll reports, if you have employees.
- Any sales-tax filings you already turned in.
What this is not
Bookkeeping is not an audit, and it is not a promise about how much tax you will owe. It is a clear set of books the return can be prepared from.
If all you need this year is the tax return itself, start with the business tax page and bring the records you have.
