Personal tax preparation
JBK Tax prepares individual tax returns at the Edmonds Lane office. The conversation can be in English or in Spanish. Call for an appointment, and bring the papers listed below.
A personal return starts with what you earned and who is in your household. That includes a W-2 job, more than one job, unemployment, interest, or work paid on a 1099. If you are not sure which forms you should have, bring what arrived in the mail and we will sort it with you.
We prepare the return from your documents and the forms for that tax year. We do not quote a refund before we see the papers. Two households with the same wages can have different results, and the rules change from year to year.
What to bring
If something on this list has not arrived yet, call. We will tell you whether to wait or to come with what you have.
- A photo ID.
- Social Security cards or ITIN letters for you, your spouse, and each dependent.
- W-2s from every job.
- 1099 forms for contract work, interest, unemployment, or other income.
- Last year’s tax return, if you have it.
- Health coverage forms, if you received any.
- Records for daycare, mortgage interest, or tuition if you want those looked at.
- A bank routing number and account number if you want direct deposit.
If you missed a year
Call and say which years you still need to file, or which filed return you think is wrong. Bring any letters from the IRS. We will tell you what we can prepare and which papers we still need.
Do not mail Social Security numbers to the website. Bring identity documents to the appointment, or ask the office how they want to receive them.
